Experiencing the ups and downs along the hills and valleys adds depth to our experiences. It is difficult, in the moment, to appreciate the expanded color scheme of our experience when the added colors are even darker than we have felt in the most recent rides. It is important to realize that we actually need the darkness to appreciate the white light.
Lyrics from Passenger remind us:
Well you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
The vernal equinox has given us another curve on the road. This curve is less mysterious than most. This curve allows us to anticipate something positive, like clockwork. Operating like a awesome clock, the universe is starting to shed more light than darkness upon us. Do not let the mechanics allow you to ignore the outcome.
Celebrate the light around the bend. Each day will bring us increased light. Until it won’t. Expand the bright end of your spectrum. Be mindful of the positive.
Be aware. Feel the light. Glow.

In art, chiaroscuro (think Rembrandt) is the strong contrast between dark and light. Early in painting classes one is taught that you can add all the white you want but it won’t make anything stand out. You must make the surrounding areas darker.

I like your comment Don F. I agree. As the yin to yang, masculine to feminine, the heat and the cold all are representations of the opposite ends of spectrums that represent the experience of life…all is nothing more than the light and the dark….one is necessary to experience the other. Patrick keep writing more like this one! Really great!
